This journal is published quarterly. (March, June, September and December)
Open Access Policy
Majalah Kedokteran Bandung provides immediate open access to all published articles. Readers and institutions can access, read, and download articles free of charge.
Article abstracts are available in HTML format, while full-text articles are available in PDF format.
Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref.
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This license allows articles to be shared and adapted for noncommercial purposes, provided that the authors and original source are properly credited.
Archiving Policy
Majalah Kedokteran Bandung is committed to preserving its published content.
The journal maintains regular backups of published articles, metadata, issues, and publication files. Backup copies are stored separately from the main website to reduce the risk of data loss.
The journal may use digital preservation services, institutional repositories, and other recognized archiving systems to ensure long-term access to its content.
Authors may archive the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, academic websites, and other noncommercial scholarly platforms. The archived version should include the complete citation, DOI, and a link to the official article.
Plagiarism Policy
Majalah Kedokteran Bandung does not accept plagiarism, duplicate publication, text recycling, inappropriate paraphrasing, or the unauthorized use of another person’s ideas, words, data, tables, or figures.
All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism-detection software before peer review or publication.
The journal generally requires an overall similarity index of no more than 20%. However, the similarity score is only a screening indicator. The editorial team will also examine the source, amount, and location of the matching text.
A manuscript may still be rejected even when the similarity score is below 20% if plagiarism or unattributed copying is identified.
Unacceptable practices include:
-
Copying text, ideas, data, tables, or figures without proper citation;
-
Paraphrasing another source without acknowledgment;
-
Reusing previously published work without citation or disclosure;
-
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal;
-
Republishing previously published findings as new research; and
-
Using copyrighted material without permission.
When plagiarism is found, the journal may request revision, reject the manuscript, contact the authors’ institution, or restrict future submissions.
If plagiarism is identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction.
Subscription
Majalah Kedokteran Bandung is a fully open-access journal. No subscription or payment is required to access published articles.
Readers may register on the journal website to receive notifications about new issues and announcements. Registration is voluntary and does not affect access to journal content.
Retraction, Withdrawal, and Correction Policy
Majalah Kedokteran Bandung is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal may issue a withdrawal, correction, expression of concern, or retraction when necessary.
Manuscript Withdrawal
Authors may request manuscript withdrawal by sending a written request to the editorial office.
The request must include:
-
The manuscript title and submission ID;
-
The reason for withdrawal; and
-
Confirmation from all authors.
The manuscript must not be submitted to another journal until the withdrawal has been formally confirmed by Majalah Kedokteran Bandung.
Withdrawal requests submitted after peer review, acceptance, copyediting, or layout preparation may require further editorial evaluation.
The journal may delay withdrawal when the manuscript is being investigated for suspected misconduct, duplicate submission, authorship disputes, or ethical violations.
Withdrawal of Published Articles
Published articles will not normally be removed from the journal website.
Removal may be considered only in exceptional situations, such as legal requirements, serious privacy concerns, patient-safety risks, confidential information, or major technical errors.
When an article is removed, a withdrawal notice will be published whenever possible.
Corrections
A correction may be published when an article contains an error that does not invalidate its main findings.
Corrections may include errors in:
-
Author names or affiliations;
-
Tables, figures, or data;
-
Corresponding-author details;
-
Funding or acknowledgment information; or
-
Copyediting and production.
Important corrections will be published as a separate notice and linked to the original article.
Retraction
An article may be retracted when its findings are unreliable or when serious publication misconduct is identified.
Reasons for retraction may include:
-
Data fabrication or falsification;
-
Serious errors that invalidate the findings;
-
Plagiarism;
-
Duplicate publication;
-
Unethical research;
-
Missing ethical approval or informed consent;
-
Peer-review manipulation;
-
Serious authorship violations;
-
Copyright infringement; or
-
Other major violations of publication ethics.
The retraction notice will state the reason for retraction and will be linked to the original article.
The original article will normally remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted.
Expression of Concern
The journal may publish an expression of concern when there is a serious concern about an article, but the investigation has not been completed or the available evidence is inconclusive.
The notice will be linked to the article and may later be followed by a correction, retraction, or statement that the concern has been resolved.
Requests and Appeals
Requests for correction or retraction should include the article title, authors’ names, publication details, DOI, explanation of the concern, and supporting evidence.
Authors may appeal an editorial decision by submitting relevant evidence of a factual error, new information, or a significant procedural problem.
The final decision will be made by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team.
Artificial Intelligence Disclosure Policy
Authors must disclose the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in preparing their manuscript.
AI tools may be used to assist with language editing, grammar correction, translation, formatting, or improving readability. However, AI tools must not be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the work.
Authors remain fully responsible for all content generated or revised using AI tools, including the accuracy of information, references, data, and interpretations.
When AI tools have been used, authors must include a disclosure statement in the manuscript, preferably in the Acknowledgment or Methods section. The statement should mention:
-
The name and version of the AI tool;
-
The purpose for which it was used; and
-
How the authors reviewed and verified the AI-assisted content.
Example:
“The authors used [name of AI tool and version] for language editing and grammar correction. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and verified by the authors, who take full responsibility for the final manuscript.”
The use of AI tools to fabricate or manipulate data, images, references, results, or peer-review content is strictly prohibited.
The journal may screen submitted manuscripts using AI-detection software. Manuscripts with an AI-generated content score above 35% may be returned for clarification, revision, or further editorial evaluation.
Failure to disclose substantial use of AI tools may be considered a breach of publication ethics.
