Journal Policies
Publication Frequency
Althea Medical Journal is published quarterly, with four issues released each year:
- February

- November
The journal may also publish special issues or supplements. All articles are subject to the same editorial and peer-review standards.
Open Access Policy
Althea Medical Journal provides immediate open access to all published content. Readers and institutions may access, read, and download articles free of charge.
Article abstracts are available in HTML format, while full-text articles are available in PDF format.
Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref.
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). The license permits sharing and adaptation for noncommercial purposes, provided that the authors and original source are properly credited.
Archiving Policy
Althea Medical Journal is committed to preserving its published content.
The journal maintains regular backups of articles, metadata, journal issues, and publication files. Backup copies are stored separately from the primary journal website to reduce the risk of data loss.
Authors may archive the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, academic websites, and other noncommercial scholarly platforms. The archived version should include the complete citation, DOI, and a link to the official article.
Plagiarism Policy
Althea Medical Journal does not accept plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate paraphrasing, text recycling, or the unauthorized use of another person’s ideas, words, data, tables, or figures.
All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism-detection software before peer review or publication.
The journal generally requires an overall similarity index of no more than 25%. However, the similarity score is only a screening indicator. The editorial team will evaluate the source, amount, and location of matching content.
A manuscript may be returned for revision or rejected when plagiarism or significant unattributed copying is identified.
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction.
Artificial Intelligence Disclosure Policy
Authors must disclose the use of artificial intelligence tools in preparing their manuscripts.
AI tools may be used to assist with language editing, grammar correction, translation, formatting, or readability. However, AI tools must not be listed as authors.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, references, data, and conclusions of the manuscript.
The disclosure should state the name of the AI tool and the purpose for which it was used.
Example:
“The authors used [name of AI tool] for language editing and grammar correction. All AI-assisted content was reviewed and verified by the authors.”
The use of AI to fabricate or manipulate data, images, references, results, or peer-review reports is prohibited.
Subscription
Althea Medical Journal is a fully open-access journal. No subscription or payment is required to access published articles.
Readers may register on the journal website to receive notifications about new issues and announcements. Registration is voluntary and does not affect access to journal content.
Retraction, Withdrawal, and Correction Policy
Althea Medical Journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal may issue a withdrawal, correction, expression of concern, or retraction when necessary.
Manuscript Withdrawal
Authors may request withdrawal by sending a written request to the editorial office. The request must include:
- The manuscript title and submission ID;
- The reason for withdrawal; and
- Approval from all authors.
The manuscript must not be submitted to another journal until the withdrawal has been formally confirmed.
The journal may delay withdrawal when the manuscript is being investigated for duplicate submission, authorship disputes, data fabrication, or other ethical violations.
Corrections
A correction may be published when an article contains an error that does not invalidate its main findings.
Corrections may address errors in author information, affiliations, data, tables, figures, acknowledgments, funding information, or publication production.
Important corrections will be linked to the original article.
Retraction
An article may be retracted when its findings are unreliable or serious publication misconduct is identified.
Reasons for retraction may include:
- Data fabrication or falsification;
- Serious errors that invalidate the findings;
- Plagiarism;
- Duplicate publication;
- Unethical research;
- Missing ethical approval or informed consent;
- Peer-review manipulation;
- Serious authorship violations; or
- Copyright infringement.
A retraction notice will explain the reason and remain linked to the original article. The article will normally remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted.
Expression of Concern
The journal may publish an expression of concern when there is a serious concern about an article, but the investigation is incomplete or the available evidence is inconclusive.
Appeals
Authors may appeal an editorial decision by providing evidence of a factual error, new information, or a significant procedural problem.
The final decision will be made by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team.
